Copy Editor - 6-12 months contract
The Intercept, launched in 2014 to provide an outlet for fearless, adversarial journalism, produces award-winning investigative reporting, analysis, and multimedia content focused on national security, politics, civil liberties, the environment, technology, criminal justice, media, and more. Regular contributors include co-founding editors Glenn Greenwald and Jeremy Scahill.
We are seeking an experienced copy editor to join our editorial team full time in New York. The ideal candidate is a sharp, creative editor with a keen eye for detail, mastery of grammar and mechanics, web production skills, and enthusiasm for The Intercept’s core areas of coverage. The copy editor will be responsible for ensuring clarity, accuracy, consistency, and polish across a range of content, from quick news articles to in-depth investigative projects. S/he will also help develop and maintain house style guidelines, draft display copy, and work collaboratively with editorial, design, and research teams to bring stories to production.
